Light that moves with the day.
Whole-home lighting scenes, circadian color temperature, seamless day-to-night transitions. Three platforms — Lutron, Crestron, and Control4 — each installed at the highest authorization tier we hold. We'll help you pick the right one for your home.
Lighting is the soul of a smart home.
Of all the systems we install, lighting is the one clients fall in love with first. Properly designed, it disappears into the architecture and behaves like a sixth sense — brightening as the sun sets, softening for movie night, leading you to the kitchen with a single gentle path at 3 AM without anyone touching a switch.
Each of the three platforms below is professional-grade and dealer-installed. Each handles the same fundamental task — but in meaningfully different ways. Where the differences matter is in which one fits your home, your priorities, and the rest of your system.
Lutron — the architectural standard.
Lutron is the silent benchmark for residential lighting. We're a Gold Dealer— Lutron's top authorization tier for installers — with direct factory support on every project.
Lutron offers three residential platforms:
- Caséta — small homes and single rooms. Plug-and-play hub, app-based control. Not typically what we install in luxury work, but capable for retrofit add-ons.
- RadioRA 3 — the mid-tier flagship. Handles homes up to ~15,000 sq ft beautifully. Wireless dimmers and switches in banks at the wall, Lutron app integration, full scene programming, time-of-day schedules, motorized shade integration, third-party voice and control-system bridging. The right choice for most luxury homes today.
- HomeWorks QSX— the no-compromise estate-scale system. Panelized low-voltage architecture (banks of dimmers in mechanical rooms, not in every wall box), elegant low-voltage keypads at every entry, scales to 10,000+ zones and 50,000+ sq ft. For new construction at the highest end, it's the obvious answer.
The trade-off: HomeWorks costs roughly 50% more than an equivalent RadioRA 3 system but offers cleaner aesthetics (low-voltage keypads vs. wall-box dimmers), centralized service access, and far higher scalability. RadioRA 3 covers the vast majority of luxury work; HomeWorks earns its premium for estates where lighting is architectural.
Crestron — when lighting is one system among many.
If the home is already running on Crestron for AV, climate, security, and shading, we typically install Crestron lighting too — everything on one bus, one programming language, one set of touchpanels. The next-generation hardware:
- Cameo 2 keypads, dimmers, and switches— Crestron's newest wireless lighting line. Engineered keypads with elegant button layouts, refined finishes, and Crestron Home OS integration. The right choice when the project needs Crestron-grade reliability and customization without panelized infrastructure.
- Horizon keypads and dimmers — premium metal finishes (matte black, brushed brass, polished nickel, more) designed for interior-design-led projects. The aesthetic upgrade when keypads are a visible architectural element.
- DigitalLighting— Crestron's panelized architecture for the largest estates. Like Lutron HomeWorks but natively integrated with the rest of the Crestron system.
Crestron is the right answer when you want absolute integration between lighting and everything else in the home, and when your installer holds deep Crestron programming experience — which we do.
Control4 — polished, integrated, fast to deploy.
Control4 is our Platinum Dealer platform — their highest authorization tier — and increasingly the right choice for clients who want Crestron-class polish at a more accessible price point.
- Wireless Lighting— Control4's biggest hardware refresh in a decade. Square keypads with custom-engraved button caps, refined dimmers and switches, native integration with the rest of the Control4 system (AV, climate, security, intercom). Excellent retrofit story.
- Panelized Lighting— Control4's answer to HomeWorks and DigitalLighting. Centralized dimmer banks in mechanical rooms, low-voltage keypads at the wall, full scene programming. The estate-scale option when the project is on Control4.
Control4 is the right choice when the priority is a clean, installer-supported smart home with strong third-party integration — and when the user interface needs to be friendly enough for everyone in the house, not just the homeowner.
How we choose.
After thirty years installing these systems, we've developed strong opinions about what fits where. The right answer depends on the home size, the budget, the rest of the technology stack, and how the family actually uses lighting. Some quick principles:
- Pre-wire new construction at 8,000+ sq ft— HomeWorks QSX, DigitalLighting, or Control4 Panelized. Don't leave dimmer banks in wall boxes scattered across the estate.
- Retrofit a 5,000–10,000 sq ft luxury home — RadioRA 3 is usually the sweet spot. Beautiful, scalable, no wall demolition.
- Already deeply on Crestron or Control4 — stay on the same platform for lighting. The integration premium is worth more than any per-fixture savings.
- Interior-design-led project — Crestron Horizon (metal finishes) or Lutron Palladiom for the keypad aesthetic.
