Kaleidescape is the only legal way to own studio-master quality 4K HDR films at home. The Kaleidescape Movie Store offers titles in the same bitrate the studios used to grade the master — typically 4× to 10× the bitrate of streaming services — with full lossless audio. Every Beyond Audio theater above a certain tier includes a Kaleidescape Strato or Terra, because nothing else gets close to the picture and sound quality.
Studio masters, in your home.
Streaming services compress films to fit through your internet connection. Even at “4K HDR,” they typically run 15–25 Mbps. The Blu-ray equivalent of the same film is 40–60 Mbps. The Kaleidescape master is 75–100+ Mbps — the same file the studio used for grading and color approval. The picture and audio quality difference is not subtle. A Kaleidescape film in a properly designed theater is closer to a theatrical screening than anything else available at home.
Strato vs Terra — when to specify which.
The Kaleidescape Strato C is a single-room movie player — perfect for a primary cinema or media room. The Terra Server is the multi-room storage backbone, paired with Strato V endpoint players in each viewing room. We specify Terra for homes with 3+ viewing zones and Strato C for single-cinema installations.
A library you actually own.
Unlike streaming, every Kaleidescape film you purchase is yours. It lives on your server, plays without an internet connection, and is never removed from your library because of a streaming rights dispute.
